Presentation
All educators at the School are considered to have a duty of care to their students whilst the students are in their care. This means they have a duty of care to protect their students from foreseeable dangers whatever their source. Usually the duty is to protect the student from dangers threatened by others but it may also be to protect the student from injuring him/herself.
When an injury does occur to a student, it is up to that student to report the incident to the teacher who will then report it to the Director.
All students are able to make complaints without fear of victimisation.
Complaints should be addressed either directly to the teacher or in writing to the School Director/Facilitator.
Complaints will be handled promptly.
Should the teacher not be able to resolve the complaint they will pass it on to the Director/Facilitator.
Should resolution between the parties at Director/Facilitator level not be achieved, then we will suggest an independent mediation body to examine the matter. Mediation can be provided through the NSW Nurses’ Association, Conflict Resolution Network, External Registered Training Organization (RTO), Migrant Resource Centres where bi-lingual support is made available if preferred by the complainant. VET training delivery and assessment matters can be taken to the NSW Department of Education and Training - VETAB. If the unresolved matter is not related to training delivery, you could take your complaints to the NSW Department of Fair Trading or the NSW ombudsman. Students have the right to take further action under Australian Consumer law and the right to pursue other legal remedies.
If your complaint is substantiated, it is our responsibility to follow up on the issues, modify policies and procedures if required and record this action.
A written statement of the complaint outcome and reasons for the decision will be given to the appellant.
If you are having difficulty with any part of the course or are having any personal, family or emotional difficulties, please speak with your Trainer or the Training Manager who will, if required, put you in contact with a professional counsellor who will give you confidential and professional assistance.
LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY
